{"id":69246,"date":"2018-05-22T11:42:20","date_gmt":"2018-05-22T09:42:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tcm.be\/glossarium\/amicable-recovery\/"},"modified":"2026-01-14T23:16:04","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T22:16:04","slug":"amicable-recovery","status":"publish","type":"glossarium","link":"https:\/\/tcm.be\/en\/glossarium-en\/amicable-recovery\/","title":{"rendered":"Amicable recovery"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Amicable recovery<\/strong> refers to all actions and techniques used by a creditor to recover a <a href=\"https:\/\/tcm.be\/en\/receivable\/\"><strong>receivable<\/strong><\/a> from a <a href=\"https:\/\/tcm.be\/en\/debtor-definition\/\">debtor<\/a> without resorting to legal proceedings. <br>It involves the <a href=\"https:\/\/tcm.be\/en\/creditor-definition\/\">creditor<\/a> trying various methods (reminder letter, telephone follow-up, home visit, etc.) in order to collect the sum of money which the debtor owes them, without instigating legal proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Amicable recovery<\/strong> can be regarded as a phase of negotiation initiated by the creditor. <br>If this <strong>amicable recovery<\/strong> phase does not produce the desired results, the creditor may then launch <strong>legal action<\/strong> . From then on, we are talking about judicial recovery.<br><br>Statistics show that with TCM, <strong>less than 1% of debts<\/strong> (6 out of 1,000, in fact) end up being the subject of legal proceedings.<br><br>Updated 22\/05\/2018<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Definitions provided under this section refer to the Belgian situation; unless specified otherwise.
