{"id":69292,"date":"2018-12-05T10:32:41","date_gmt":"2018-12-05T09:32:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tcm.be\/glossarium\/reverse-factoring-2\/"},"modified":"2026-01-14T23:03:43","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T22:03:43","slug":"reverse-factoring-2","status":"publish","type":"glossarium","link":"https:\/\/tcm.be\/en\/glossarium-en\/reverse-factoring-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Reverse factoring"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Reverse factoring<\/strong>is a financial management mechanism enabling a financial enterprise to make immediate payment in favour of its contractors and suppliers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">So, how does reverse factoring actually work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>First, the company concerned receives its goods or services and then is served an <a href=\"https:\/\/tcm.be\/en\/invoice\/\">invoice<\/a> from the supplier or contractor. That company will then forward the incoming invoice to a <strong>factoring company<\/strong> that finances the whole amount of the invoice as soon as possible. From then it is up to the company concerned to settle the amount in favour of the <strong>factoring company<\/strong> , and this within the time limits set in the initial invoice as presented by the contractor\/supplier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What, then, is the difference between conventional factoring and reverse factoring?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Unlike conventional <a href=\"https:\/\/tcm.be\/en\/factoring\/\">factoring<\/a>, <strong>reverse factoring<\/strong> is a client-driven rather than a supplier-driven mechanism. What is more, the financier, the <strong>factoring company<\/strong>, bases its payment risk on the client&#8217;s potential solvency instead of on the supplier&#8217;s or on the contractor&#8217;s.<br><br>Updated 05\/12\/2018<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Definitions provided under this section refer to the Belgian situation; unless specified otherwise.
