The usefulness of an international debt collection network

We don’t have to look far from home to see the benefits of alocal international collection network. Even in Europe,there is no shortage of differences and complexities. Already the languages across the border of two smallish countries, Flemish and Dutch show many nuances. The same is valid for local subtleties of German, Spanish, etc. In fact, even within national borders, we benefit from international culture to enrich our competence and creativity.  

The TCM Group

  TCM Belgium is affiliated with theTCM Groupdebt collection network. Thanks to this network, we can offerlocal solutions to our customers in more than 100 countries. Affiliate partners (law firms and collection agencies) must meet strict conditions, including experience, references and commitments.   A general conference is organized each year for partners from all continents to exchange ideas. Last year, it was TCM Belgium’s turn to host this event in Brussels. Obviously, covid-19 has put our plans under lock and key. We looked forward to taking this opportunity to introduce our customers and prospects to our international partners. The firstInternational Credit Management Daywas born. It is now postponed to 2022.  

Financial security but also ethics

  The TCM group functions both as a controlling authority due to its strict regulation, but also as a safety net.  Financial security has been created for the creditor by the guarantee fund.This insurance system, to which each partner contributes, aims to make sure that the creditor receives his money when funds are collected by a foreign collection partner, but not returned to the creditor (for example due to the bankruptcy of the distant collection partner).   In addition, there isalso the assurance that our ethical standards and values ​​are upheld by each partnerwithin the TCM Group.   The reason why the creditors rely on an amicable solution is, in addition to time saving and the low cost, the will to maintain a good relationship with the customer (the debtor). Your debtor will therefore always be correctly reminded and followed up. Indeed, yesterday’s debtor could be tomorrow’s good business partner.   As an example, in Belgium, collection agencies  need to register with the Federal Public Service Economy, in the Netherlands there is still no obligation to register, but a recentbillcould change this. They want to eliminate the “cowboys” from the Dutch debt collection industry. However, across the TCM Group there is already the contractual assurance that every Affiliate Collection Partner (including those working in the Netherlands) is bound by specific ethics and compliance commitments.  

A shared know-how

 Sharing our know-how is in fact our greatest asset.Challenges and solutions are regularly exchanged and issues, like the legal ones, are presented through TCM Group’s extensive network. Local specialists are available if necessary. The solutions, but also the chances of success of various options or procedures can be quickly explained to the creditor.Local knowledge of local laws and customs is essentialin this regard and to a large extent determines the success rate of recovery.   The TCM group also has investments in common, for example in the IT field.
