E-invoicing

Glossary

E‑invoicing is the digital creation, sending, receipt, and processing of invoices in a structured format such as UBL, XML, or EDI.

In contrast to a regular PDF invoice, an e‑invoice is automatically read and processed by accounting software without manual intervention. This increases efficiency, reduces errors, and speeds up payments. E‑invoicing is more secure and ensures better compliance with tax regulations thanks to encryption and standardized protocols such as the Peppol network. As of 1 January 2026, e‑invoicing will be mandatory for B2B transactions in Belgium.
