Legal form

Glossary

A legal form is the legal structure under which an organization or company is established and operates. It determines, among other things, liability, tax obligations, and internal governance. In Belgium, the main legal forms are: the sole proprietorship, the private limited liability company (SRL), the public limited company (SA), the cooperative company (SC), the limited partnership (CommV), the simple partnership, and the non‑profit association (ASBL). Each form has its own characteristics and entails specific consequences for founders and members.
