Limitation period / Statute of limitations

Glossary
A limitation period is the legally established timeframe after which a right or claim can no longer be enforced. Once the period has expired, the debtor may invoke limitation, meaning the debt no longer has to be paid. Limitation does not occur automatically; it must be actively invoked, for example in court.
