Book XIX WER is a section of the Belgian Code of Economic Law that has been applicable to the recovery of consumer debts by businesses since September 1, 2023.

It requires businesses to first send a free payment reminder and limits recoverable damages and interest through statutory caps.

The law aims to provide better protection for consumers within the framework of amicable debt collection, imposing strict formal requirements and deadlines on creditors.
