Apparent authority
Glossary
| Apparent authority arises when someone creates the impression of being authorized to act on behalf of another party, while this is not actually the case. If third parties reasonably rely on this appearance and suffer damage as a result, the person on whose behalf the representation occurred may still be bound. The appearance must be attributable to that person, for example through the use of letterheads, company stamps, or prior behavior
